BACKGROUND:The Carolina Cluster Career Pathways Program(“Carolina Cluster”) is a consortium of three core Historical Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) in South Carolina: Claflin University, Benedict College, and Voorhees College, with the overarching goal of developing and enhancing student preparation for success in the workplace and graduate school. A jointly established Carolina Cluster State Coordinating Office(“State Office”) has been created to direct and monitor cluster-wide activities. At Claflin University, the newly designed Career Pathways Initiativepresents an exciting opportunity to build upon Claflin University’s tradition of delivering high-quality educational experiences by helping students develop 21st-century workforce competencies through Curricula Enhancements, Experiential Learning Programs, Guided Career Pathways, and Corporate Engagement.
PRIMARY DUTIES:The Senior Data Analystwill report to the Assistant Vice President of Institutional Effectiveness and the Executive Director of the Carolina Cluster Career Pathways Program. The Senior Data Analyst will help support all aspects of analytic initiatives from conception to completion. The Senior Data Analyst will leverage predictive analytics and advanced statistical approaches to drive strategic thought and effective decision making. The Senior Data Analyst will assume the responsibility of performing various tasks relatedtodesigning approaches and collectingand analyzing data to support decision making for the Claflin Career Pathways Initiative, the Carolina Cluster Office, and the Office of Institutional Effectiveness at Claflin.The Senior Data Analyst will engage in data analysis and reporting, data visualization, research and evaluation, and development of appropriate qualitative and quantitative methodologies.
QUALIFICATIONS: A master's degree in data science, social science research, statistics, evaluation, and assessment, or a related field is preferred.Candidates with at least three years of work experiencewith data management responsibilitiesand some supervisory/managerial experience preferred. Proficiency in MS Office products is required(i.e., Excel, Access, Macros, pivot tables, and charts) – Skill test required. Ability to work with multiple data systems and large, relational databases; and experience with SQL and Crystal Reports or equivalent tools. Proficiency in at least oneof the following data analysis software is essential:SAS, SPSS, Stata, Python (especially Pandas and SciPy libraries), or R– Skill test required. Knowledge of data visualization tools; experience developing metrics and dashboards; and demonstrated familiarity with data and predictive analytics. Excellent written and oral communication skills, as well as,accuracy, timeliness, and ability to prioritize tasks are critical for this position.
