DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: The Director of Auxiliary Services reports to the Vice President for Administration. The Director of Auxiliary Services provides supervisory responsibilities for University enterprises to include the Purchasing Department, Motor Pool, [Central] Receiving and Delivery, Print Shop, Book Store, and dining services. The Director is responsible for planning and directing activities of the University’s Auxiliary Services to support University users and develop policies and procedures to establish and maintain compliance.

Duties will include analysis and implementation of strategies for adequate contract administration and oversight for major independent contract vendors for major services (i.e., food services, facilities, and grounds maintenance). The Director of Auxiliary Services ensures the prompt and effective delivery of goods and services to the University’s administrative and academic departments; and manages inventory and property control (i.e., vehicles, equipment, and other fixed assets).

The Director of Auxiliary Services will develop “Request for Proposals/Bids” when required; provide assistance, research, and professional recommendations when solicited; work with architects and/or contractors when required for specific projects, for construction or renovation projects, or for major capital expenditures for equipment. Such assistance will include, but will not be limited to, the reviewing of specifications, drawings, and providing input at meetings for possible changes as needed. The Director of Auxiliary Service will perform any other duties within the scope of this position as assigned by the Vice President for Administration.

QUALIFICATIONS: Successful candidates must have a minimum of a bachelor’s degree in a related discipline with adequate management experience. Exposure and/or experience that include responsibilities in auxiliary services, procurement, supply services, or business would be preferable. Additional preferences would include a working knowledge-base of project and contract management; applicable agency, state, and federal regulations/policies and procedures; and principles of budgeting and fiscal management. Effective oral, written, and interpersonal skills are essential.

SALARY: Commensurate with qualifications and experience.
