DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: The Fiscal Specialist III will report directly to the Dean of the School of Natural Sciences and Mathematics (SNSM) and will work closely with Department Chairs within the School of Natural Sciences and Mathematics. Assume responsibility for ensuring that budgetary and accounting requirements are in compliance and conform to funding agencies guidelines. Provide fiscal and administrative support for internal budgets, external grants, and contracts for the entire SNSM. Manage the budgets, coordinate purchases, track expenditures, reconcile budget, prepare proposed budget revisions requests for the departments, and process hiring paperwork. Work closely with accounting personnel, principle investigators, Fiscal Affairs Office, and the Sponsored Programs Office to prepare grant budgets in compliance with guidelines and procedures of the National Science Foundation, The National Institute of Health, and/or other appropriate agencies necessary to assist with post awards and grant set-up. Perform other duties within the scope of this position.
QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor’s degreeand one year of related experience, or an equivalent combination of experience/training may be substituted for the required education. Must be knowledgeable of fiscal accounting, financial analysis, and budget reconciliation. Excellent skills in the areas of organizational management, attention to details, decision-making, problem solving, and presentation are essential. Ability to prioritize multiple tasks; develop and maintain databases, reports, and processes; perform assignments independently with minimum supervision; and interact with colleagues in a team effort. Effective oral, written, and interpersonal relation skills are required. Must be proficient in Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
