Job Description:


General Statement of Duties


This particular job posting is an "Open Pool" position. There may or may not be available openings at this time however, when an opening does occur, the hiring manager will draw from the pool of applicants we have on file on an as needed basis.


The person in this position will teach at least one course per semester in the part time evening Dental Assisting program. This person will also support, advise and provide instruction to students while in the classroom setting and provide the student with relevant and timely feedback concerning all work submitted to the instructor. He/she will mentor and role model to students' professional and academic practice. He/She will work with the administrator of the Dental Education Programs regarding all functions of the Dental Assisting program including participation in Advisory board, curriculum review, licensing process and accreditation activities.


Responsibilities


Instruction in both traditional and non-traditional learning modes; Instructional preparation; Assessment of student performance; including submission of final grades in a timely fashion; An obligation on the part of the unit member to be available to students by appointment when mutually convenient; Maintain expertise appropriate to teaching responsibilities; Available for meetings with other faculty and administrator as appropriate. Other duties as required.

DAC 104. Practice Management. 2 Credits.
DAC 105. Dental Science II. 4 Credits.
DAC 110. Prevention. 3 Credits.
DAC 115. Clinical Rotation. 7 Credits.



Requirements:


Masters degree with a major in course content area preferred, Baccalaureate degree required; CDA (Certified Dental Assistant) required or experience working as a dental assistant in the last five years (except for DHY103 & DHY106) Evidence of competence in the area of instruction;
Expertise appropriate to teaching responsibilities;
3-5 years teaching experience in a community college preferred


Three (3) current Professional Letters of Recommendation are required in order to be considered for employment. Letters must be dated within 1 year of hire and at least one must be from a supervisor/manager.

Lecture: $88.32-$106.72


Clinical: $65.36- $78.97

Mount Wachusett Community College is an accredited, public two-year institution serving 29 cities and towns in North Central Massachusetts.  The 269-acre main campus is located in Gardner, Massachusetts and satellite sites are located in Devens, Fitchburg, and Leominster.
