Job Description:


General Statement of Duties


This particular job posting is an "Open Pool" position. There may or may not be available openings at this time however, when an opening does occur, the hiring manager will draw from the pool of applicants we have on file on an as needed basis. Provide orientation and academic advising services for students at all MWCC campuses.


Responsibilities


Lead New Student Welcome Sessions, assist with the college's orientation communication plan, and participate in college orientation activities geared at increasing student success; Perform new, transfer, and readmitted
student intake advising and assist students with educational planning; Provide intrusive advising outreach and regular support to a caseload of high-risk students assigned to the college's Advising Center; Provide appropriate on-campus referrals for students (e.g., Academic Support
Center/Tutoring Services, personal counseling, counseling for students with disabilities, transfer counseling, Visions Program, etc.); Perform registration activities including add/drop and course withdrawal advising;
Assist with the college's communication plan/outreach activities to support student success (including but not limited to contacting no-show students, students with prerequisite errors, etc.); Provide basic career and transfer advising to students and/or collaborate with the college's Career/Transfer counselors to contribute to a combined Academic/Career/Transfer advising model; Perform other duties as required.



Requirements:


Master's degree required. Previous academic experience ; knowledge of the academic majors and requirements at MWCC as well as familiarity with the various support services at the College; Ability to work with admissions, faculty, and other college personnel as required. Preferred Qualifications: Community College academic advising experience, Experience with Student Information Systems (e.g. Banner,
Degree Works, etc.)

In-house Title:
Salary: $ 29.22 per hour.
Hours per Week: not to exceed 18 hours per week.

Mount Wachusett Community College is an accredited, public two-year institution serving 29 cities and towns in North Central Massachusetts.  The 269-acre main campus is located in Gardner, Massachusetts and satellite sites are located in Devens, Fitchburg, and Leominster.

The college offers over 40 associate degree and certificate programs, adult basic education/GED programs, education and training for business and industry, and noncredit community service programs.

MWCC’s main campus is in Gardner and its satellite campuses are located in Leominster (Leominster Campus), Fitchburg, and Devens (Devens Campus). The main campus includes an academic building with fully-equipped classrooms, laboratories, studios, library and theatre.
