General Summary

TITLE: Adjunct (Faculty) LENGTH OF APPOINTMENT: One Term

CLASSIFICATION: Instructional

SUPERVISORS: Dean, Associate Dean, Department Chairs, Program Manager
Principal Duties & Responsibilities

General:

  • Observe all college rules and regulations, State guidelines and professional mandates appropriate to teaching faculty
  • Maintain effective working relationships with faculty, staff, students, and community
  • Assist with curriculum review and development whenever appropriate

Specific:
    1. Meet all scheduled classes for the full period as delineated on the schedule
    2. Teach assigned courses in accordance with catalog course descriptions and academic specifications
    3. Furnish each student and the dean's office with a course syllabus, which follows the prescribed format, including evaluation procedures, withdrawal procedures, class attendance, and other policies consistent with college procedures. Syllabus must be submitted to dean's office prior to or during the first week classes begin
    4. Keep accurate and up-to-date records on all students
    5. Submit grade reports on or before deadlines according to college procedures
    6. Participate in performance appraisal and instructional observation processes as specified by Associate VP or VP Academic Affairs
    7. Demonstrate knowledge of current instructional methods
    8. Use instructional support materials and equipment as appropriate to enhance class presentation
    Qualifications

    Required:
    Doctorate or Master's degree + 18 graduate semester hours in any combination of the
    following qualifying fields or appropriate specialized degrees in management or
    organizational management related fields:

    • Business Administration
    • Leadership
    • Management
    • Management Systems
    • Organizational Management

    OR

    • Project Management certification or 18 graduate semester hours in project management

    Desired:
    C
    ertified in Lean Six Sigma (Green belt minimum with at least 5 years of experience, but Black Belt preferred) and 18 graduate hours in project management.

    Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required

    Ability to demonstrate the four College Service Excellence Standards of respect, competence, responsiveness, and collaboration when interacting with students, employees, visitors, and community members.
