Advertised Job Summary
This position is established in support of expanded research activities. The successful candidate will work with Dr. Steven Rodney on research projects related to gravitationally lensed transients, supernova cosmology, and/or highredshift supernovae. The postdoctoral fellow will have opportunities to engage on a range of projects related to current and future space telescope missions. This includes Hubble Space Telescope surveys such as the Frontier Fields, RELICS (relics.stsci.edu), and BUFFALO (buffalo.ipac.caltech.edu), as well as related projects using the James Webb Space Telescope. This position is funded in part by NASA subcontracts for the WFIRST Science Investigation Team on Supernova Cosmology, and the postdoctoral fellow will be expected to contribute to preparatory science and studies related to the development of the WFIRST supernova mission.Required Education and Experience
Ph.D. in physics or astronomy.Preferred Qualifications Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
Python programming and research experience in the astrophysics topics above are both desirable.
