Augusta University invites applications for the position of Associate Vice President for Teaching Excellence.

The AVP for Teaching Excellence will report directly to the VP for Instruction and Innovation. In concert with Deans, Department Chairs, faculty and the AVP for Faculty Success, and as an exemplar of teaching excellence, this individual will provide guidance and support for all activities associated with high impact teaching practices, curriculum mapping, experiential learning, student learning outcomes, and instructional design.

Duties and Responsibilities described below:

  • Provide oversight for:
  • The Office of Experiential Learning
  • Quality Enhancement Program
  • The Center for Instructional Innovation
  • Provide leadership for curriculum mapping and student learning outcomes
  • Coordinate course redesign initiatives by collaborating with Instructional Technology, program areas, academic departments, and other stakeholders.
  • Develop and Implement a Teaching Fellow program
  • Coordinate, cultivate, publish initiatives associated with the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning
  • Coordinate Communities of Practice focusing on instructional innovation
  • Perform other duties as assigned
  • This position will be a 12-month administrative appointment and the faculty member will retain a faculty appointment in the home department and the current tenure/rank status.

    • Earned Terminal Degree (e.g., PhD, DNP, EdD, MFA)
    • Evidence of Teaching Excellence
    • Excellent interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to work effectively in a highly collaborative environment
    • Demonstrated ability to work with a wide variety of disciplines
    • Excellent oral and written communication skills

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Evidence of innovation in instructional delivery
    • Experience in curriculum and/or organizational redesign
    • Administrative and or supervisory experience
    • Comfortable with a variety of instructional technologies
    • Experience with unit or program planning and assessment
    • Experience with unit or program budgets
    • Knowledge of statistics and statistical analysis packages
    • Experience with adult learners.
