Job Summary Atlanta Metropolitan State College, a four-year degree-granting institution of the University System of Georgia, is accepting applications for adjunct biology faculty in the Division of Science, Mathematics, and Health Professions. The Division is seeking a highly skilled and motivated individuals to join our enthusiastic team of STEM Professors. The College currently serves over 2,000 commuting students on its beautifully landscaped campus which is located 10 minutes south of downtown Atlanta and 15 minutes north of Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport.

The Division of Science, Mathematics, and Health Professions is seeking to build a Biology adjunct applicant pool. These anticipated part time position(s) report to the Dean of the Division of Science, Mathematics, and Health Professions. Teaching responsibilities may include general, science, general biology, and principles of biology lecture and lab courses; as well as, courses in anatomy and physiology, and microbiology. The Division offers a B.S. in Biological Science, and an A.S. in an engineering and an allied health pathway. The department strives to impart to students, data analysis and contemporary laboratory skills. Applicants must have a history of effective teaching at the collegiate level and possess knowledge of educational technologies (e.g., Web-based and-or totally online instruction). Experience using Desire2Learn (D2L) Course Management System is a plus. Courses may be scheduled during the morning, afternoon, evening, and weekend.

Required Qualifications

A Master degree with eighteen graduate semester hours (thirty-quarter hours) in biology courses (e.g. Biology, Biochemistry, Anatomy and Physiology) from a regionally accredited institution is required. Preference will be given to applicants with experience in teaching biology courses at the collegiate level, and who possess the expertise and experience in on-line instruction. The successful candidate will have experience providing instruction to students from diverse backgrounds, while effectively collaborating and cooperating with other members of the faculty, staff, and administration. The applicant must be an excellent instructor, and should be familiar with curriculum development, alternative learning styles, classroom technologies, and distance learning.
