Job Summary Pre-Matriculation (Pre-MAT) instructors teach classes that prepare students for college admissions tests, including ACCUPLACER and SAT/ACT, as well as, provide other BRIDGE activities that prepare students for admissions to Atlanta Metropolitan State College, as well as high school dual enrollment and dual credit opportunities. Typically, students participating in this program include high school students, GED students, and adult learners. In addition, for those instructors with unique experiences and background technical knowledge/skills, the job description may entail additional responsibilities that involve program reviews, curriculum development, and new or existing course development. This is a PART-TIME position within the college.

Responsibilities The Pre-MAT instructor is responsible for:

1. Teaching Pre-MAT classes within his/her qualifications and credentials, in the areas of math, writing, and reading.

2. Preparing class syllabi and grade books, both electronic and paper.

3. Preparing and grading homework assignments

4. Keeping and monitoring class attendance reports, both electronic and paper.

5. Creating and distributing mid-term progress reports to students.

6. Meeting with students to provide out-of-class assistance with course material and homework assignments.

7. Preparing end-of-class reports of student performance.

8. Assisting, as needed, with other BRIDGE activities, such as career activities and learning communities.

9. Assuming other responsibilities as needed by the Office of Special Programs or by the College.

10. Creating and implementing classroom technology such as smartboards and internet learning software packages

Required Qualifications A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in the areas: math and writing/reading (Master’s or higher preferred) or related degree from a regionally accredited college or university. Must have at a minimum of two years of work (teaching, tutoring, test prep, etc.) experience in the fields of math and/or writing/reading.

· Demonstrated ability to integrate multimedia, alternative web technologies and streaming technologies

· Ability to research and learn new technologies quickly, to understand and independently carry out oral and written instructions, prioritize work assignments, and meet deadlines

· Ability to lead, initiate communication, and work closely and effectively with other Pre-MAT staff and teachers in a team construct, as well as independently

· Proficient in Microsoft Office products

Minimum Qualifications: Education, Experience, and Licenses

A minimum of a Bachelor's degree (Master's or higher preferred) or related degree from a regionally accredited college or university.
