Job Summary

This ten-month faculty position which reports to the Dean of the Division of Humanities and Fine Arts. Teaching assignments typically include Introduction of Mass Communication, Writing & Reporting, Mass Communication Workshop, Film Appreciation, Introduction to Film, Feature Writing, etc. The position requires the candidate to have anetwork of professional contacts that could benefit students seeking internships and new graduates who are launching their careers. Evidence of excellence in teaching is critical in this position. In addition, faculty responsibilties include organizing and delivering classroom lectures to students, evaluating a students' class work and assignments, preparing classroom and coursework material, homework assignments and handouts, recording and maintaining accurate student attendance records and grades, classroom management, and creating a vibrant teaching atmosphere. The individual(s) hired will start in the Fall 2018.

Required Qualifications

Minimum Master's Degree, with a minimum of eighteen graduate semester hours (thirty-quarter hours) in Mass Communication, Media Arts, Radio/Televison/Film or other similar degree programs from a regionally accredited institution with an emphasis on audio and video production. The candidate must have a strong interest in instructional practice, and have teaching experience in collegiate and/or adult settings. The successful candidate should possess the ability and desire to provide quality instruction to students with diverse backgrounds while effectively collaborating and cooperating with other members of the faculty, staff, and administration. Applicant must have history of effective teaching at the collegiate level. Teaching on-line is desired qualification. Applicants must have experience using online management software, preferably Desire2Learn or BrightSpace. A successful candidate must be willing to follow a standardized mass communication curriculum and participate in departmental meetings and represent other committees as assigned.
