Job Summary


The faculty member teaches courses in Data Analytics within the Bachelor's Program. This is a full-time Faculty (FAC) position for which an annual contract reflecting the base salary within the fiscal year (July 1st to June 30th) will be issued after ratification by Miami Dade College's District Board of Trustees.


Duties & Responsibilities


  • Teaches lecture and laboratory sections
  • Evaluates students and performs career and academic advising
  • Plans and organizes instructional materials to meet course objectives
  • Develops and teaches online courses
  • Teaches Dual Enrollment classes
  • Recruits, advises and evaluates students
  • Teaches data analytics courses college wide
  • Participates in a variety of departmental, campus and college-wide programs, activities and committees
  • Serves as a resource person for adjunct faculty
  • Teaches day, evening and weekend classes as needed
  • Performs other duties as assigned



Minimum Requirements


  • Doctorate degree in Data Science or related field (e.g. Data Analytics, Computer Science); or, Doctorate degree in Statistics and 12 graduate semester hours in Data Science and/or related field (e.g. Data Analytics, Computer Science);or, Doctorate degree in Mathematics and 9 graduate semester hours in Statistics and 12 graduate semester hours in Data Science and/or related field (e.g. Data Analytics, Computer Science); or
  • Master's degree in Data Science or related field (e.g. Data Analytics, Computer Science), or Master's degree in Statistics and 12 graduate semester hours in Data Science and/or related field (e.g. Data Analytics, Computer Science); or, Master's degree in Mathematics and 9 graduate semester hours in Statistics and 12 graduate semester hours in Data Science and/or related field (e.g. Data Analytics, Computer Science); or, Master's Degree and 12 graduate semester hours in Statistics and 12 graduate semester hours in Data Science and/or related field (e.g. Data Analytics, Computer Science)
  • Ability to use innovative teaching techniques
  • Must have a passion for teaching in technology
  • Familiarity with distance learning and willingness to use technology tools in instruction
  • Ability to use collaborative learning techniques and student centered methods of instructions
  • Possess excellent communication skills and ability to communicate effectively with students with a wide range of skills
  • Ability to work in a multi-ethnic/multi-cultural environment
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule that may include evening and weekend assignments
  • Start date for this Faculty position is scheduled on or before August 23, 2018
  • Doctoral stipend awarded in addition to base salary, as applicable



Preferences


  • Doctorate in Business Administration preferred
  • Two (2) years related experience a plus
  • Two (2) years college teaching experience desirable
  • Previous curriculum development and recruitment experience a plus
