Job Summary:

A high-volume research lab at the University of Chicago Biological Science Division is looking for a motivated and technologically-minded Diagnostic Rater to join our team. We seek a clear communicator, quick learner and savvy problem-solver to recruit and schedule eligible participants for multiple sessions in several concurrent research studies. Recruiter for psychiatric research studies will recruit, schedule, screen and track participants for eligibility in research studies. Work closely with faculty and staff in identifying and enrolling appropriate candidates with attention to inclusion/exclusion criteria; manage screening room calendars and usage; coordinate research volunteers with laboratory personnel, nursing staff and physicians; maintain database of participants' demographic and screening data; perform data entry, management and analysis using standardized computer software.

Responsibilities:
  • Schedule and conduct diagnostic and behavioral interviews of research subjects using DSM-IV based Structured Clinical Interviews as well as other interviews in accordance with the CNPRU research protocols and procedures.
  • Write reports of diagnostic and historical information obtained during interviews.
  • Present cases to a committee of psychiatric professionals for review.
  • Recruit and screen research volunteers: create and place newspaper, radio ads and posters ads, answer telephone and email inquiries to designate if potential subject is the proper candidate for designated studies.
  • Administer screening questionnaires, coordinate physical exams.
  • Schedule and coordinate orientation sessions to explain procedures, practice tests; coordinate activities of other laboratory members, maintain office and laboratory supplies and records of expenses.
  • Resolve problems with computers.
  • Perform other work duties as assigned

Additional Requirements

Education, Experience and Certifications:

Education:
  • High school diploma/GED required
  • Bachelor's degree preferred
  • Master's degree preferred.


Experience:
  • Post secondary work experience in a field related to the research being conducted


Technical Knowledge or Skills:
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Word
