Job Summary:

The University of Chicago Law School is seeking an Admissions Coordinator. The position reports to the dean of Law School Admissions and also supports the dean of Graduate Programs. This position must develop and maintain an understanding of the Law School and its culture in order to positively represent the University and the Law School to all constituencies; work collaboratively with other student services managers and administrators to ensure efficiency, accuracy, and timely performance of admissions operations; facilitate and resolve student and office problems independently; develop and implement procedures and policies for new student initiatives; and improve efficiency and results within existing programs. Evening and weekend hours are required for admitted student weekend, orientation, and occasional other events.

Responsibilities:
  • Manage on-line JD applications
  • Process and coordinate mailing of admissions packets
  • Coordinate mailings for recruitment events
  • Process all deferral requests
  • Track budget expenditures, process e-payments, and process expense reports
  • Monitor departmental ledgers and assist with compiling a proposed annual budget
  • Manage the general Admissions email inbox
  • Assist with answering the main phone line as needed
  • Cover the front office desk and greet visitors as needed
  • Support and participate in departmental events as needed
  • Conduct special projects such as surveys, accreditation visits, the creation and management of specialized student activities or programs, and data collection initiatives; as requested
  • Order office supplies for Admissions and Financial Aid as requested
  • Other relevant duties as assigned by the Associate Dean for Admissions and Financial Aid

  • Knowledge of the University of Chicago's policies and procedures preferred


Additional Requirements

Education, Experience,or Certifications:
  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • Two years of professional work experience required; preferably in a higher education context; previous experience in student services strongly preferred.
