The Walker Department of Mechanical Engineering at The University of Texas at Austin seeks outstanding applicants for a tenured or tenure-track faculty position in engineering design. Applicants are sought at the rank of Assistant Professor, but candidates with outstanding records of accomplishment will also be considered for the rank of Associate Professor or Full Professor. Applicants should demonstrate strong foundations in engineering design with research interests in one or more of the following areas: design methodology and innovation, data-driven design and design informatics, simulation-based design, sustainable design, design of complex systems, multi-scale design, multi-scale geometric modeling, and generative design. Other closely related research areas will also be considered.
Candidates must have completed a Ph.D. degree in Engineering or Natural Sciences prior to their start date, and a record of outstanding accomplishments with a clearly upward career trajectory. For senior hires, evidence of technical leadership and accomplishments commensurate with the rank of Associate or Full Professor is essential. The successful candidate will be expected to teach undergraduate and graduate courses, develop a strong sponsored research program, supervise graduate students, collaborate with other faculty, and serve the university and profession.
