Assistant or Associate Professor of Practice in Opera Stage Directing

Assistant or Associate Professor of Practice (full-time, non-tenure track, continuing); salary commensurate with qualifications and experience. Non-tenure track faculty at the University of Texas are encouraged to maintain a professional profile; multi-year contracts and promotion in rank are possible.

Duties will include the following within the Butler Opera Center: co-teach graduate and undergraduate courses in opera performance; supervise and teach MM and DMA students in opera directing, and lead this nationally recognized program. Direct (or oversee student directors) in three fully staged productions per year, plus one evening of opera scenes. Liaise and collaborate with production partners Texas Performing Arts, the Department of Theatre and Dance, and Austin Opera.

Qualifications
MM in opera directing or equivalent professional experience. Deep knowledge and experience in the technical areas of opera production, including but not limited to set design, costume design, lighting design, integrated media, etc. A record of successful mentorship of young singer-actors.
