The University has been named on Forbes's Best Employers list for two consecutive years, and is the only university in Florida to receive this honor.The University of Miami Department of Medicine-Hematology has an exciting opportunity for an Advanced Registered Nurse Practioner (ARNP).The Hematology/Oncology Nurse Practitioner/PhysicianAssistant's role at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine is toensure quality of care through consultation, collaboration, continuingeducation, certification and evaluation.The Hematology/Oncology Nurse Practitioner/PhysicianAssistant at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine may practice inall or some of the following clinical settings: UMHC/Sylvester or University ofMiami Hospital in both the Inpatient and outpatient settings.Facilitates clinical research protocols and coordinatespatient care with research staff.Assesses the physicaland psychosocial status of clients by means of interview, health history,physical examination, and diagnostic studies.Recognizes deviations from normal in the physicalassessment. Works in collaboration witha physician in formulating treatment plans for health problems and follow-up. Writes prescriptions for medication, blood products basedupon laboratory results, routine diagnostic and follow-up studies, therapeuticmeasures, and post-discharge care in accordance with written practiceprotocols. Requests writtenconsultation from physicians and other healthcare professionals to ensureappropriate and quality patient care. Interprets andevaluates findings of studies/tests and intervenes accordingly.Advisescollaborating physician of appropriate information regarding patient care andreports to the physician the actions provided to the patients.The minimum qualifications for this position are as follows: Master's degree in nursing with a valid State of Florida ARNP license. Two years experience in Hematology/Oncology. OCN or AOCNP preferred or within two years of employment.
