The Desrosiers lab is looking for a highly motivated Research Associate (RA) to assist in the development of a pre-clinical vaccine/therapy approach against HIV. This individual will implement techniques established in the lab to detect and quantify AAV-delivered antibodies in serum, as well as potential immune responses to those antibodies. He or she will also construct and purify new cloned DNAs for subsequent incorporation into AAV vectors. The individual will be trained in the conduct of virus neutralization assays using HIV and SIV. It will be expected of the RA to maintain a proper lab notebook and be responsible for following proper lab safety and regulatory procedures. The person should have a strong willingness to learn new techniques and more specifically those involved in antibody quantification by ELISA, cell culture, DNA cloning and expansion, processing of blood samples, etc. The RA will be trained to understand and interpret research protocols and procedures. He or she will also cooperate in maintaining the overall work flow in the Desrosiers team, participate in lab meetings, maintain a high level of current knowledge and laboratory skills in the discipline, and work on any additional tasks that may be assigned.

The Research Associate should have a minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in a science-related field. Prior experience working in a research laboratory is beneficial but not required.
