The Associate Vice President (AVP) of Human Resources for the U Health System will lead and administer the Human Resources functions for the Miller School of Medicine and hospital system in alignment with the strategies and operational needs of U Health's senior leadership team.Reporting jointly to the CEO of the Health System and to the VP of Human Resources, the AVP has accountability for effectively leading overall talent and workforce strategies, projects and initiatives for the UHealth System. Serving as the senior on-site Human Resources leader, the AVP will support the vision, strategic plan, and operating objectives of the UHealth System and Miller School of Medicine, leveraging direct and functional HR support to achieve these objectives. This individual will be a member of and key advisor to the UHealth leadership team including the CEO, Dean of the Miller School of Medicine, Chief Operating Officer, Chief Financial Officer, and hospital/ambulatory facility-based CEOs and CAOs. He/she will provide counsel to the organization's leaders, develop strategic and tactical workforce plans, and deliver 5-To-Thrive HR initiatives in support of patient care, financial, research, and customer service objectives.HR responsibilities include oversight for strategic planning and organizational development aligned with the strategic plans for the UHealth System, including talent acquisition and onboarding, training and development, leadership development, organizational health and culture, employee relations, budgeting, labor relations, andpeople management.This position directly manages 53 client services and recruitment professionals and partners with the Talent & Organizational Development, Total Rewards and Workplace Equity units to achieve desired objectives for the U Health System.Serving as a member of the University Human Resources Leadership Team, the Associate Vice President will also participate in strategic planning, leadership initiatives and the development of policies and procedures that specifically impact the U Health system and/or the broader University community.Qualifications and Experience:— A Bachelor's degree (BA) is required; Masters/JD degree preferred.— Minimum of fifteen years of human resources leadership experience, including significant experience in an academic medical center, hospital or other complex healthcare environment.— Minimum of five years at the senior human resources management level in an organization of similar or larger size.— Deep knowledge in HR functional areas such as compensation, talent acquisition and talent management, leadership development, employee/labor relations, benefits, and employee engagement.— Experience in growth organizations, in leading change efforts and in managing through complex transitions.— Experience in, or at least exposure to, a higher education, research or academic medical environment is strongly preferred.Leadership and Management Competencies•Results-oriented with a sense of urgency for delivering measurable outcomes.•Organized and self-directed individual who is culturally astute and a team player.•Warm and responsive individual who can relate to people at all levels of the organization.•Excellent oral and written communication skills, including executive presence.•Outstanding leadership skills, including: ability to lead through influence based on strong relationship building; demonstrated success in developing, empowering, and mentoring HR individuals and teams; ability to establish a compelling vision tied to an inspiring mission and manage project milestones within timeframe and budget; and an effective developer of talent.•Demonstrated success in create an environment of transparency and accountability within the HR team and with clients.•Customer service orientation wiUHealth-University of Miami Health System, South Florida's only university-based health system, provides leading-edge patient care powered by the ground breaking research and medical education at the Miller School of Medicine.
