Adjunct-Accounting, Economics & Finance Faculty
The College of Business and Graduate School of Management at Lewis University seeks to establish a pool of potential undergraduate adjunct instructors on an ongoing basis to serve as dynamic and student centered educators in service of the following academic departments: Accounting; Business Administration; Economics; Finance; Management; Management Information Systems; Marketing; and Organizational Leadership. Focused on experiential learning, and active engagement, adjuncts chosen to teach at Lewis will create a charismatic and professional learning environment for students of diverse learning backgrounds.
Adjunct positions at Lewis University are part-time teaching positions and may instruct 1 or 2 courses each semester on an "as needed" basis. This posting may or may not result in the hiring of adjuncts. Adjunct Faculty provides a quality learning experience for students on a semester basis. Adjunct faculty reports to their respective department chair and/or the dean and performs instruction-related duties and responsibilities in a timely manner and in accordance with the mission, policies and procedures of the University. The relationship of the adjunct faculty member to the student is one of teacher and facilitator of learning.
Department Specific Essential Job Functions:
- Teach their course(s) either at the Romeoville (Main), Oak Brook, Tinley Park and/or Albuquerque campuses;
- Availability to teach during the weekday, evening and online;
- Prepare course materials, syllabus(ai) and update Blackboard course shells (LMS platform);
- Participate in required University and College activities, trainings and certifications;
- Provide support and guidance to students.
- Cooperate with department chairs or other program faculty to assure quality and consistency across the program
A Master's Degree in the chosen or related discipline is required, for example for Economics courses a Master's degree in Economics is the minimum requirement, with Ph.D. preferred. For Finance courses, a Master's degree (MBA or MS Finance) is the minimum requirement, with CFA certification and business experience preferred. For Accounting courses, a CPA is required and a Master's degree in accounting would be preferred.
Candidates who have evidence of prior quality teaching and/or training experience required and who indicate a willingness to be flexible in class scheduling.
Possesses excellent communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
Experience with Blackboard and hybrid delivery, not required, but desirable.
Repetitive movement of hands and fingers - typing and/or writing. Frequent standing, and/or sitting. Occasional walking, stooping, kneeling or crouching. Reach with hands and arms. Visually identify, observe and assess. Ability to communicate with supervisor/students/colleagues. Regular physical attendance required.
