Defiance College invites applications and nominations for a full-time, tenure-track Assistant Professor of Athletic Training – Clinical Education coordinator, in a new Masters of Athletic Training program. Defiance College is preparing for application to CAATE for an Entry-Level Masters in Athletic Training Program, with courses to start fall 2019. 

Primary responsibilities include a 12-credit per semester teaching load focusing on courses within the Master of Athletic Training curriculum as well as the undergraduate Exercise Science Program. The individual will also serve as the Clinical Education Coordinator to approve new clinical sites, coordinate student placement in clinical experiences, train and evaluate preceptors, and maintain clinical education requirements. Additional responsibilities include serving as Academic Advisor to MAT and undergraduate students, assisting the Program Director with CAATE Accreditation, committee work and service to the college mission.

The successful candidate must have a completed doctorate in Athletic Training or a related field; advanced ABD will be considered. Candidates must be BOC certified, eligible for Ohio Athletic Training Licensure, have a minimum of 3 years’ clinical athletic training experience, and experience with CAATE accreditation standards. Preference will be given to candidates with a strong teaching record, innovative ideas for course development and pedagogy, and a willingness to help students apply their work both inside and outside the classroom in creative ways.
