Defiance College invites applications and nominations for a full-time, tenure-track Assistant Professor of English. Ideal candidates specialize in technical writing, rhetoric, and writing program administration. Secondary interests should include cultural studies and/or literature. Primary responsibilities include teaching lower and upper-division writing courses. The typical semester teaching load is four courses (12 hours). Fifty percent of the load will include the teaching of general education composition courses. Administrative course releases are in place.

The successful candidate must have a completed doctorate in rhetoric and composition or a related field; advanced ABD will be considered. Dual degrees in writing and cultural studies/literature are of particular interest. Preference will be given to candidates with a strong teaching record, innovative ideas for course development and pedagogy, and a willingness to help students apply their work both inside and outside the classroom in creative ways.
