DEPARTMENT/DIVISIONStudent Financial Assistance/Student Development and Support Services

RESPONSIBILITIES:  Under the general supervision of the Director of Student Financial Assistance, the Financial Aid Counselor will provide advice to students on the financial aid application process. The Financial Aid Counselor will serve as the expert on the Federal Direct loan process including awarding, monitoring and reconciling accounts with the COD and the College’s records.  They will also troubleshoot and resolve discrepancies and/or issues.  All other duties, as required.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:   A Master’s degree in counseling or within a student service discipline as well as two years of experience in financial aid are required.    The successful candidate must possess sound knowledge of all federal and state financial aid programs; experience working with the Federal Direct Loan Program; and experience with automatic packaging and electronic data exchange (EDE and COD).  Computer software experience is required.  Experience educating students and families about financial aid is also required.  The successful candidate must have excellent analytical, writing and oral skills.  They must be detailed oriented and have the ability to work in an interdependent working environment.  Participation in relevant organizations is required.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS3 years of financial aid experience is highly preferred. PeopleSoft experience is also highly preferred.

SALARY & BENEFITS:  The minimum starting salary is $63,570 plus competitive benefits.
