DEPARTMENT/DIVISION:  Gateway/Workforce Development and Community Education


RESPONSIBILITIES: The Office Assistant (Word Processing-Spanish Speaking)-Welcome Center will:


Answer phone calls received on the College’s high-volume main incoming line, providing direct assistance to callers and transferring calls, as appropriate.  Cross-train in policies and procedures of various offices and departments, in order to provide one-stop resolution, when possible. Provide direct support by phone and email to current and former students who contact the Welcome Center’s MyWCC Student Helpdesk.  Look up students’ account information in order to resolve inquiries. Provide support for Welcome Center’s role as the College’s Immigrant Student Access Center.  Coordinate the Director’s appointment calendar and, as appropriate, provide direct responses to inquiries from prospective students, students, and members of the public. Provide support for student pre-orientation sessions offered by the Welcome Center. Coordinate the purchasing of supplies for the Welcome Center. Coordinate room reservation calendars for specific spaces in the Gateway Center. Process payroll for Welcome Center hourly employees. Provide oral and written Spanish translation assistance, as needed. All other duties, as assigned. QUALIFICATIONS: The successful candidate must possess a high school or equivalency diploma and three years of experience where a primary function of the position was performing general office/clerical work, two years of which must have included the use of computer applications to maintain automated records or produce correspondence, spreadsheets, forms, reports or other documents.  Excellent interpersonal, critical thinking, and customer service skills required.  *This is a Civil Service position.  The final candidate will be required to take and pass the Civil Service Exam.*


POSITION EFFECTIVE:   The position will remain open until filled.


SALARY & BENEFITS: The starting salary is $43,587 plus competitive benefits.
