Degree and Area of Specialization:

Bachelor's degree in Social Work or closely related field required; Master of Science in Social Work (MSW) preferred. Master's degree in public health, health education, public policy, education, public administration, sociology, communications, or related field also considered.



Minimum number of years and type of relevant work experience:

At least one year of experience in a relevant academic, research, community or non-profit setting. Experience planning and executing patient or community-centered work. Excellent communication and organizational skills, attention to detail, creativity, flexibility and initiative required. Demonstrated ability to work autonomously, in addition to ability to collaborate effectively as member of a small work group. Ability to communicate diplomatically with internal and external constituents. Experience with a variety of research methods preferred. Experience with qualitative research, focus group and interview methods strongly preferred.

Position Summary:

This position will support collaborative outreach and research efforts in dementia care and services between the School of Nursing and the Health Services Care Research Program in the Department of Medicine under the supervision of Dr. Andrea Gilmore-Bykovskyi. The position will support various inter-related programmatic initiatives in the area of dementia and caregiver outreach, recruitment and engagement, principally focusing on coordination of an ongoing multi-site project investigating community and health system supports for people with dementia.



Additional Information:

* The ideal candidate is proactive, energetic, empathetic, creative and a skilled collaborator with demonstrated experience in academic research and working with community or non-profit organizations.
* Strong candidates will provide evidence of excellent writing and critical thinking skills and ability to work independently and prioritize across varied tasks.
* Work environment is highly team-oriented and involves regular small group meetings, joint writing projects, and frequent email communication.
* Candidates should at minimum, have a cursory understanding of health care systems such as the medical records and confidentiality of private health information, although more experience in health care (such as working as a nursing assistant for example) is strongly preferred.
* This person will work primarily at the UW Madison School of Nursing with other work duties taking place at the Madison Veterans Hospital and UW-Madison School of Medicine and Public Health, both located on Highland Avenue in Madison, WI.
* Position requires occasional travel. Must provide own transportation or meet eligibility criteria for Car Fleet usage.
* Position requires some physical activity (occasional walking, sitting, standing, carrying); frequent talking and hearing; and repetitive motion (typing).
* Evening hours will be required on a regular, monthly basis.
* Applied knowledge of Microsoft programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher, Outlook, Access), Qualtrics software, and Windows operating system.
* Applied knowledge of WordPress and Twitter, other social media.
* Within 14 days of hire, the candidate must obtain HIPAA and CITI certification by completing the University's electronic training.

This is a 2 year position with the possibility of renewal if additional funding comes through.
