International Program Specialist

Primary Function of Organization Unit: The College of Engineering at NC State University seeks to hire an International Programs Specialist. This position will help recruit outstanding graduate students, will establish and support strong educational and research partnerships with prestigious engineering programs around the world, and will create or expand, promote, and support international programs for engineering students (both undergraduate and graduate) at NC State. The position will be permanent (at will) half-time. Some travel will be required.
Essential Job Duties: This position will have three areas of focus: Recruiting, International Partnerships and International Experiences for Students. Recruiting: * Identify opportunities for recruiting outstanding graduate students into engineering * Create marketing messages and materials that will highlight the most attractive aspects of graduate study in engineering at NC State * Meet and communicate with undergraduate students interested in pursuing graduate degrees in engineering * Establish recruiting pipelines with outstanding undergraduate programs * Seek and make use of graduate student funding opportunities, and establishing connections with funding agencies * Coordinate and support efforts by departments to recruit * Effectively manage contacts with prospective students International Partnerships: * Arrange visits by and to prospective partner institutions * Facilitate agreements and negotiations with partner institutions * Sustain existing partnerships * Report on results of partnerships, identify new opportunities International Experiences for Students: * Promote study-, work-, and research-abroad opportunities to students * Assist students with finding programs that meet their needs * Negotiate student exchange agreements with well regarded international partners * Encourage faculty to create courses taught in other countries * Support advisor efforts to verify course and program equivalencies with international partners * Recruit employers to offer international internships to engineering students * Find funding for student international activities * Negotiate with providers of international educational services * Support and recruit International Engineering Ambassadors * Lead efforts to establish academic programs in global engineering
Minimum Education/Experience: * Bachelor's degree in engineering or computer science, master's or specialist degree in engineering, business, or education & a minimum of 2 years relevant experience * Facility in a second language * Experience living outside the United States a plus * Experience advising and/or teaching at the college level a plus * Enthusiasm for expanding access to engineering education, and for enhancing the educational experience * Able to communicate and connect with faculty and students, both US and international * Be outward facing and bring best practices to our college from other top programs * Experience organizing, arranging, managing, and leading tours and visits
