Position Summary: The UNC Division of Nephrology and Hypertension, Department of Medicine, is currently seeking a Clinical Assistant Professor with an interest in experimental and/or translational imaging techniques pertaining to the kidney. The research role requires a strong knowledge base in the utility and applicability of different imaging modalities. This position represents an exciting opportunity in the Division, which utilizes a wide range of knowledge and experience, from the molecular and cellular level to the technical, radiological focus to the clinical, patient centered approach. This role encompasses a wide skill set, including the ability to coordinate researchers from multiple divisions, with a special focus on the development of clinically relevant radiology techniques to the improvement of the lives of patients with kidney disease. The faculty member will be expected to participate in outpatient dialysis and clinics and inpatient nephrology services where s/he will oversee fellows, residents, and medical students in the care of patients with acute and chronic kidney disease. Responsibilities during inpatient rotations will include didactic sessions for students/residents/fellows and oversight of procedures such as dialysis catheter placement, kidney biopsy, acute hemodialysis, and continuous dialysis procedures. The faculty member will participate in the regular teaching responsibilities shared by all members of the Division. The faculty member is expected to work with Biomedical Research Imaging Center faculty to develop both basic and translational imaging related projects related to kidney diseases.

Education Requirements: Candidates should have a M.D. and be BC/BE in Nephrology.

Qualification and Experience: Optimal candidates will have previous experience in the design, coordination and implementation of projects related to kidney disease, and must also have a demonstrated interest in improving on imaging techniques pertaining to patients with chronic kidney disease.
