A two to three year Postdoctoral Research Scholar position is available immediately in the Kimonis Laboratory in the Division of Genetic and Genomic Medicine at the UC Irvine School of Medicine, Department of Pediatrics. Interested applicants must have a recent M.D. or Ph.D. degree in the biological sciences, possess a good background in molecular biology and genetics, and have the ability to work independently.

The Kimonis Laboratory's research is focused on studying the molecular basis of hereditary myopathy associated with Paget disease of bone and/or frontotemporal dementia and related disorders. The laboratory uses classical methods of gene and protein analysis, gene expression array technology, cell biology functional and biochemical studies, and animal studies. The Postdoctoral Research Scholar will be expected to perform research; collect and analyze data, and write technical manuscripts and grants.
