The Department of Pediatrics Section of Pulmonary Medicine has an opening for a full-time Assistant Professor involved in clinical, research, service and limited teaching activities at the CU Briargate Specialty Clinic for Children in Colorado Springs, CO. This position includes membership in the CU Briargate Center, a multispecialty pediatric clinic and CU School of Medicine cost center that includes faculty from multiple departments. The section of Pulmonary Medicine has 49 faculty members (which includes Sr., Jr., PhD, Nurse Practitioner and Physician Assistant Faculty) with on-going interests in asthma, interstitial lung disease, pulmonary hypertension, bronchopulmonary dysplasia, cystic fibrosis, sleep medicine, the pediatric airway and medical education.

Examples of Work Performed:

This position is a 1.0 FTE and will support pulmonary clinical operations at a 1.00 CFTE at the Colorado Network of Care site/Briargate campus and the new Children's Hospital in Colorado Springs when built. Other clinical activities consist of a combination of attending inpatient, outpatient and consult service, as well as performing bronchoscopies, laryngoscopies, reading sleep studies and PFTs. Teaching and mentoring responsibilities of house staff, fellows, residents and medical students is expected, however, this may be limited by your location

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:
  • MD/DO
  • Board certified in Pediatrics
  • Three years of Pediatric Pulmonology fellowship
  • One year of Sleep Fellowship Training


Preferred Requirements:
  • Boarded or Board Eligible in Pediatric Pulmonology
  • Boarded or Board Eligible in Pediatric Sleep Medicine
  • CO Medical license or CO medical license eligible
  • Prescriptive Authority
  • Experience with either Sandman or XLTEC sleep software
  • Familiarity with electronic Medical record system, email, and other medical technologies


Required Competencies:
  • Knowledge appropriate for individuals completing a three-year Pediatric Pulmonary Fellows hip.
  • Skills in pediatric pulmonary diagnostic and therapeutic procedures
  • Pediatric clinical assessment skills
