Bucknell University's Department of Athletics and Recreation is seeking to identify a pool of interested candidates to instruct a variety of cardiovascular, strength, dance, and conditioning-based group fitness classes to students, faculty, staff, and community members. Classes offered are on an as needed basis. Examples of classes include: Boot Camp Kickboxing Pilates Spinning TRX Yoga Zumba These hourly, non-exempt positions are not eligible for University benefits. Candidates must professionally and respectfully support a diverse and inclusive student body, faculty and workforce. Duties and Responsibilites: -Adhere to the description of the class and modify the intensity for participants when necessary. -Continuously monitor the exercise intensity throughout the duration of each class. -Ensure class begins and ends on time and doesn't exceed class size maximum. -Teach respective classes on a regular basis and adhere to the cancellation and substitution policy. -Communicate timely with the Assistant Director on all equipment needs and any scheduling conflicts. -Assess and properly respond to risk management issues, including but not limited to health or facility emergencies, worn/broken equipment, injuries, accidents, or disruptive behavior. -Attend all staff meetings and training sessions. Minimum Qualifications: -Must possess a current Group Exercise Leader Certification (ACE, AFAA, ECITS, ACSM are acceptable) or a degree or certification in a related field. -Must possess and maintain current CPR certification. -Must be eager to learn and continue professional development and education. -Must display strong leadership skills, be confident and knowledgeable in your area of expertise, and act in a professional manner while demonstrating a fun and energetic personality at all times.

The Community

Located in central Pennsylvania, Lewisburg features a variety of restaurants, beautiful Victorian homes, the restored art deco Campus Theatre (owned by the University), charming shops and boutiques, and the Barnes and Noble at Bucknell University Bookstore. About 33,000 residents live in the region.

The city of Williamsport is about a 30-minute drive from campus, and Penn State University’s main campus is about an hour away, as is Harrisburg, Pennsylvania’s state capital. Bucknell is about three hours from New York City, Philadelphia, Baltimore and Washington, D.C.
