The Office of Grants and Contracts has an opening for a full-time University Staff (unclassified) Billing Specialist position.

Jobs in this career family provide the accounting and financial activities for the University. Functions include general accounting, budget, financial analysis and audit, tax and reporting, accounts payable and receivables, government cost reimbursement, contract administration, cashiering, cash management/ banking, investments, treasury and travel audit.

Professionals at the entry level are responsible for exercising discretion, analytical skill, personal accountability and responsibility in a wide range of areas including academic, administrative, managerial and student services functions. Work involves creating, integrating, applying and sharing knowledge directly related to a professional field. At the entry level, duties are limited in scope and are performed with guidance and direction from other professionals and are performed in a training and Development capacity.

Position Emphasis

The Office of Grants and Contracts (OGC) seeks Billing Specialist. This position will perform entry level accounting duties related to the mission of the Office of Grants and Grants.

This position:

• Provides post-award billing support to the Office of Grants and contracts by reviewing new and existing sponsored program agreements to determine billing requirements for entry into the PeopleSoft billing module, which prepares invoices for payment requests for Cost reimbursable and fixed price contracts.

• Ensures that revenues received are properly applied in PeopleSoft by reconciling the accounts receivable and revenue recognition processes.

• Completes monthly and quarterly billing of contracts, mails invoices to sponsors

• Prepares accounts receivable aging reports and analyzes inconsistencies

• Conducts the reconciliation of accounts receivable to the general ledger in PeopleSoft

• Completes follow-up on past due accounts

• Performs other duties as assigned.

Salary and Benefits:
The hiring salary for this position has been established at $46,000 and is commensurate with skills and experience. This position is eligible for overtime compensation.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • A bachelor's degree in business administration, business, finance, accounting, or a directly related field from an accredited institution.


Substitution: A combination of education and related technical/paraprofessional experience may be substituted for the bachelor's degree on a year for year basis.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Accounting and/or auditing experience
  • Experience working with Accounts Receivable/Payable
  • Experience working with Grants and Contracts in an institution of higher learning
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite applications (Excel, Access, and Word)
  • Experience working with databases and report-writing tools to extract data
