Essential Job Duties: A component of the NOAA Cooperative Agreement is for the Institute to promote workforce development in the training of the next generation of scientifically and technically skilled climate scientists. This post-doctoral position is in the area of assessment science and analysis. Primary duties are in the support of assessment activities, which include understanding of observed changes in environmental parameters, analysis of future projected changes in these parameters, and, linkages to environmental and social impacts, as well as development of adaptive pathways.
Department Required Skills: -Ph.D. in atmospheric sciences, geography, or related field -Completion of Ph.D. by the start date of the appointment -Experience with analysis of large observational and/or model climate data sets -Demonstrated oral and written communication skills -Personal enthusiasm for the project goals -Ability to multitask and meet deadlines -Must be able to work independently as well as make positive team contributions.
Preferred Experience, Skills, Training/Education: -Experience with analysis of CMIP5 and/or regional climate modeling data sets -Experience with reanalyses -Experience with in situ and remote datasets -Experience with the development and use of statistically downscaled datasets
