Position Summary: The primary purpose of the Accounting Technician position is to focus on both pre-award and post-award grant administration for the Ryan White (RW) and Special Projects of National Significance (SPNS) portfolio housed in the Institute for Global Health and infectious Diseases. Pre-award tasks include, but are not limited to: assisting with developing budgets and budget justification; proofing to ensure accuracy for Ryan White Parts B, C and D and SPNS Project as well as reviewing proposal for consistency, accuracy and completeness, advising Principal Investigator (PI) on requirements in preparing proposals for submissions and entering and uploading the information in Ramses and HRSA's Electronic Handbook. Post-award items include: monthly reconciliations with reporting to Project Management team and PI, accounts payable and receivable, budget revisions, realignments and budget loads, assist in calculating RW Program Income/Maintenance of Effort, oversight of FTE allocation across all projects including clinical, processing and tracking of all invoices, preparation of time and effort certification for RW grants, scheduling of RW budget meetings with PI's and managers, creations and submissions of RWC Allocation and Expenditure reports in HRSA's Electronic Handbook, point person for communication between NC Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) RWB project consultants and the Office of Sponsored Research (OSR), tracking and review of MERs/CERs, ordering supplies and 340B expenditure tracking.

Location: UNC is located in the heart of Chapel Hill, the best college town in America! It's a friendly town of about 40,000 in the geographical center of North Carolina. Chapel Hill is at the western point of the Research Triangle, an area of about one million people, comprised of Chapel Hill, the cities of Durham and Raleigh, and the Research Triangle Park, home of many corporate offices and scientific research centers. Carolina is about 30 miles from the state capital, Raleigh, and 20 minutes from Raleigh-Durham International Airport.

Sports and athletic programs: UNC is an NCAA Division I school with 28 varsity teams. Technological facilities: Students find multiple uses for Carolina's state-of-the-art technological resources. The MetaLab oversees the development of SunSITE, one of the world's busiest digital library and electronic publishing projects.

Students may open e-mail accounts, and many use campus computer resources to construct personal Web pages. Students in residence halls have hardwired network connections to the Internet and cable television in their rooms. At the ATN Training center, students may take classes on software packages and utilities. Computer labs are available for student use all over campus.

Carolina Computing Initiative: Beginning with the freshman class of 2000, undergraduates must purchase laptop computers. The University has arranged for IBM to offer computers at excellent prices.
