Assistant Professor of Educational Psychology

The Psychology program at Penn State Erie, The Behrend College, is seeking a full-time, tenure-track, Assistant Professor beginning August 2019. Responsibilities include innovative instruction, research, scholarship and community and professional service. Courses will include educational psychology, statistics, educational theory, and courses in human development. Applicants with ability to teach in areas such as program evaluation, principles of measurement, social, cross-cultural, or multicultural psychology are especially encouraged to apply. A doctorate in psychology or related field, completed by start of employment, is required. College teaching experience preferred. Experience securing external funding is desired. Research area for this position is open; research is expected to involve undergraduate students. Penn State Behrend is a four-year undergraduate and graduate college of the Pennsylvania State University with 4,500 students and 34 baccalaureate majors in four schools: Business, Engineering, Humanities and Social Sciences, and Science. The college prides itself on the balance it achieves between teaching and research, on close student/faculty interaction, on its use of the open lab concept, and on its beautiful, wooded hilltop campus. The School of Humanities and Social Sciences has about 80 full-time faculty members, offers ten Bachelor's degrees (Arts Administration; Communication; Creative Writing; Digital Media, Arts, and Technology; Elementary and Early Childhood Education; English; General Arts and Sciences; History; Political Science; and Psychology) and one Master's degree (Applied Clinical Psychology). The school is also home to the languages and the arts. The psychology program has shared laboratory space; technology and library resources are excellent. Other resources include an on-campus child care center, and affiliation with an applied research and outreach center, the Susan Hirt Hagen Center for Community Outreach, Research, and Evaluation.
