The Department of Music at Elmhurst College is seeking a full-time visiting faculty member to serve as Director of Choral Activities. This is a one-year position, possible renewable for a second year.

The music department offers degrees in Music, Music Education, Music Business, Theory/Composition, Jazz Studies and Musical Theatre to well over 200 students. Essential Functions:

Administer all aspects of the choral program including artistic direction of choral ensembles, budget management, student personnel, planning/administering events, tours, and public and professional service engagements. Recruit students to the Music Department and serve as a liaison to high school/middle school choral programs. Teaching responsibilities include conducting the Elmhurst College Concert Choir, and Chamber Singers. Represent the Choral area as a member of the Music Education faculty. Work closely with ensemble conductors and applied voice studios. Work closely with Advancement Office and alumni relations.

Minimum Qualifications:

Minimum Master’s Degree in Music. Prior teaching experience at the high school and/or college level required. The successful candidate will possess strong interpersonal skills, strong organizational skills, have significant professional and scholarly experience, and the ability to attract and retain students.
