Degree and Area of Specialization:
BA or BS required (Masters preferred), with student advising experience in Political Science, Public Policy, Political Economy, or related Social Science field strongly preferred.
Minimum number of years and type of relevant work experience:
Minimum one year work experience in college-level academic advising in a higher-education setting. The ideal candidate should be able to adapt to change and have the ability to take initiative. Must be able to demonstrate ability to work with student data, handling time sensitive and confidential materials both independently and in a team. Familiarity with data libraries, queries, student record systems (SIS, Advisor Note, DARS, QL, Qualtrics, etc.) is desirable. Familiarity with interpreting and applying policies and procedures as they relate to student applications and their academic progress through graduation. Sensitivity to the needs of a student population of diverse ethnic background, national origin, socio-economic status, and gender is essential.
License or certificate:
This position provides advising for undergraduate students including declared majors and those interested in the program. The Department of Political Science seeks a committed professional to assist students at various points in their academic careers and to help ensure a high-quality experience for students that interact with the Department.
