UNTHSC's Department of Laboratory Animal Medicine (DLAM) provides professional and technical service for laboratory animal care, veterinary medical services, and animal research project support for faculty, students, and employees of UNTHSC. These services are also provided to the scientific and clinical communities. DLAM is committed to ensuring the highest standards of humane animal care and use that are essential in the pursuit and achievement of scientific excellence.

Position Details
The Laboratory Animal Medicine Department at the University of North Texas Health Science Center is seeking to hire a Lab Animal Attendant to join our team. Responsibilities of the position include but are not limited to:

* Maintaining the clean or dirty caging area.
* Cleaning, feeding and watering animals.
* Assisting in sanitizing facilities, animal housing and equipment.
* Observing animals and reporting any signs of illness or injury.
* Assisting in handling of animals, disposal of animal carcasses and receiving, storing and stacking animal feed.

Required Qualifications
The successful candidate will possess the following required qualifications:

High school diploma or GED and two (2) years of related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Preferred Qualifications
The preferred candidate will possess the following additional qualifications:

* Previous experience with animals (i.e. vet clinic, zoo, etc.).
* Certification by the American Association for Laboratory Animal Science is preferred or must be completed within 1 year of hire date.
