Job Description Summary:
Southwestern Michigan College is seeking Peer Student Tutors for Math on the Niles campus to begin in the Spring 2019 semester.

Tutors will assist patrons of Tutoring Services by providing them with on-site, online, and in-class tutoring and educational assistance.

Required Qualifications:
-Must have a 3.0 GPA and be in good academic standing.
-B+ or above grade is required for all courses that you tutor.
- Math tutor candidates must have a background in Math, especially Math 101, 102, and 127.
-Excellent student/customer service skills with the ability to effectively communicate with students, staff, and faculty are required.
• You must also have the ability to work evenings and provide a flexible schedule of availability. All tutors must have access to reliable transportation.

Preferred Qualifications:
-Preference will be given to candidates that can tutor a range of subjects, particularly Math and Writing.

Other Information:
Training for new and returning tutors will occur the week before the Spring semester begins. Attendance at all training sessions is mandatory.

Special Instructions to Applicants:
You must be enrolled in at least 6 credits at the College with a 2.0 cumulative GPA. Contact hours will not be used to meet the 6 credit hour minimum.
You must be enrolled or continuing your education with Ferris State University or Michigan State University on the campus of SMC and be enrolled in a minimum of 6 credit hours and at least 1 credit hour with SMC.
