Lewis University seeks nominations and applications for an experienced, innovative and collaborative academic leader for the position of Dean, College of Aviation, Science and Technology.

Lewis University’s College of Aviation, Science and Technology values creativity, innovation, experimental practice, collaboration, and scientific inquiry in service to the common good. Lewis University has received an historic $5 million gift from Russ and Dawn Smyth, which will establish an endowment to provide discretionary resources for the Dean of the College of Aviation, Science and Technology; support undergraduate research; and fund future enhancements to labs and classroom spaces.
The College of Aviation, Science, and Technology is comprised of the departments of Aviation and Transportation, Biology, Computer and Mathematical Sciences, Chemistry, and Physics. The College includes approximately 1400 undergraduate students, 325 graduate students, and 60 FTE faculty. The Aviation programs are FAA-approved and were recently awarded the Loening Trophy as the outstanding all-around collegiate aviation program in the nation.
The Dean is the chief academic officer of the College. The Dean reports to the Provost and is a member of several university-wide committees. The Dean supervises all faculty in the College as well as chairs and program directors, assistant and associate deans, and administrative assistants.
Qualifications include a terminal degree in one of the fields or disciplines represented in the College; a record of scholarship, service and teaching in alignment with the qualifications for the title of Professor at Lewis University; at least five years of demonstrated administrative competence in an academic setting, ideally as a chair and/or assistant or associate dean; strong financial acumen and ability to address the complex and varying needs of the programs and departments of the College; and demonstrated success in external relations.
