Marymount California University (Ranchos Palos Verdes, California) invites applications and nominations for the vice president for enrollment management position. The vice president serves as the University’s strategy and implementation leader on all matters related to enrollment and has ultimate responsibility for creating, leading and managing a comprehensive enrollment program that incorporates best practices in recruitment, admissions, and financial aid. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced enrollment management professional with a proven track record of success to creatively and strategically develop and execute an innovative enrollment management plan targeting a broad spectrum of student cohorts.

Marymount California University is located atop the spectacular Palos Verdes hills and bluffs of the Palos Verdes Peninsula. A suburb of the world-class city of Los Angeles, Ranchos Palos Verdes is known for its large tracts of open space and extensive and breathtaking views of the Pacific Ocean.


The Position
The Vice President for Enrollment Management (VPEM) oversees all aspects of the admissions and financial aid operations and is responsible for providing leadership and coordination for a comprehensive enrollment management strategy that is consistent with the goals, mission, and resources of Marymount California University. The Vice President is responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing the execution of a multi-year and annual comprehensive enrollment plan with appropriate goals that include strategies to recruit, enroll and retain traditional undergraduate, transfer, returning adult, graduate, online, extension and international students. The VPEM is responsible for developing annual admissions and financial aid forecasts, predictive models and budgets; building, leading and motivating the appropriate teams to ensure that enrollment goals are met; developing and implementing an integrated marketing and communication plan in partnership with the director of marketing; and collaborating with faculty and others to achieve enrollment, retention and graduation goals. Additionally, the VPEM is responsible for planning, implementing, monitoring and evaluating the specific programs, services and functions designed to meet institutional objectives related to enrollment management to optimize net tuition revenue. In addition to internal constituents, the Vice President for Enrollment Management is expected to partner effectively with external partners.


The Vice President reports to the President and serves on the President’s senior leadership team. The VPEM works closely with the President, Provost, Vice President for Student Affairs/Dean of Students, and other senior leaders to provide appropriate direction on enrollment management matters. Current direct reports to the vice president of enrollment management include the associate dean of admissions and the director of financial aid. The VPEM is responsible for an operating budget of over $1.7 million, financial aid awarding of over $25 million and oversees 12 staff members.


Qualifications
Requirements include a Bachelor’s degree (Master’s preferred) and a minimum of five years at a senior level with developing and implementing a comprehensive enrollment plan. The vice president for enrollment management must be a highly efficient, effective, and results-oriented individual with strong business acumen, proven experience leading, motivating, and managing a team, and knowledge of best practices and current trends in the enrollment field. Data informed decision making, an understanding of branding and marketing strategies and tactics specifically applicable to student recruitment in the digital market place is expected. The successful candidate will have the ability to balance focusing on operational effectiveness with visionary and a strategic thinking. The ideal candidate will also have knowledge, understanding, and demonstrable experience working with students and employees from diverse backgrounds. The position requires a high level of understanding of analytics, strong connotative skills and the ability to analyze issues critically. The ideal candidate also will demonstrate excellent communication skills, outstanding integrity, and the ability to collaborate effectively with internal and external constituents. Experience in collaborating effectively with athletic coaches in the recruitment of students, managing student information systems, budget oversight, financial aid and leveraging will be important factors in the selection of the new vice president for enrollment management.
