Primary Function of Organization Unit: Division of Academic and Student Affairs Mission, Values & Objectives We promote the success of the whole student. The purpose of SHS is to provide appropriate, affordable, accessible and high quality primary health care to eligible students, and provide a comprehensive disease-prevention and health promotion program in the NC State University community. The major function of the SHS is that of providing outpatient care to the 34,000+ NC State students. Some level of medical care is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week during the academic year beginning in August and ending in May. Hours of service vary during the summer and during holidays and student breaks. All of our staff members have standards that guide the work we do every day. Essential Job Duties: The Student Health Services (SHS) Professional Nurse assigned to the Medical, Work-In, Treatment, Triage, Allergy, Travel, or Women's Health Clinic is responsible for assessing, implementing the treatment plan, and evaluating the patient's response to treatment and care. Administer IV fluid as ordered. Administer Immunization program in compliance with state & university regulations. The Professional Nurse is expected to work independently under standing orders and procedures.
Department Required Skills: * Experience with Electronic Medical Records software * Must report to work for Adverse Weather and related scenarios and for public health emergencies.
Preferred Experience, Skills, Training/Education: * At least two years nursing experience that is current in an acute care setting, medical area, urgent care, SHS setting or M.D. office * Experience making referrals in community and patient teaching * Appreciation of needs of college age population * Trained with exposure to blood & body secretions and communicable diseases
Necessary Licenses and Certifications: * A current license to practice as a registered nurse in NC by the North Carolina Board of Nursing. * CPR Certification required.
