Job Summary:

The Division of Allergy and Clinical Immunology in the Department of Medicine seeks applicants for full-time Professional Research Assistant to work in the Dreskin/Chen laboratory. The laboratory focuses on:

  1. The study of functional IgE-allergen interactions as they pertain to food allergies
  2. Design of new peptide-based vaccines feasible for the treatment of peanut allergy.


The desired candidate should have background in immunology, experience in murine models and good knowledge of standard research practices and methods. The candidate should be highly motivated, enthusiastic about science, work efficiently and have excellent interpersonal skills.

Examples of Work Performed:

The position involves research on designing peptide-based vaccines and test the vaccine efficacy in mouse models of peanut allergy. Work will include, but not be limited to:

  1. Production and purification of recombinant proteins in bacterial
  2. Analysis of proteins by multiple types of assays
  3. Immunological assays : ELISA, Western blot microarray and flow cytometry
  4. Vaccination of allergic mouse model and analysis of cytokines and antibodies.
  5. Culture of cell lines and primary cells of mammalian origins


Salary and Benefits:

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor degree, preferably in immunology or a related field.
  • A minimum of two years research experience in a biomedical lab

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in expression of recombinant proteins in E.coli.
  • Experiments in murine models.
  • Skills in basic laboratory techniques such as ELISA assays.
  • Comfort managing large Excel spreadsheets.
