Computer Support Specialist II

Job description

The College of Fine Arts is seeking a Computer Support Specialist II with experience supporting and maintaining computer systems and software for end users. The incumbent will provide direct support to staff and faculty members of the college and lab administration services to college-fun student labs and smart classrooms.

The Computer Support Specialist II will be the lab administrator for eight (8) or more teaching computer labs and on-site support for sixteen (16) or more smart classrooms, including maintenance of all computers, projectors, displays, and associated equipment. Will provide supplemental support for 3-D printing/fabrication lab equipment. Additional responsibilities include video production of internet streaming broadcasts of Singletary Center performances.

Physical Requirements

Occasional lifting, pushing and/or pulling objects up to 50 lbs; Occasional standing or walking with objects up to 25 pounds; Climbing over and under desks; Sitting at computer workstation for extended periods including data entry; Walking between supported buildings up to 1.5 miles per day.


Mostly Monday-Friday 8:00 am - 5:00 PM; some evenings, weekends, and on-call required.


Driver's license preferred.

Preferred Education/Experience

General knowledge of Apple hardware and Mac OS (10.10+), PC hardware and Windows (7/8/10). Server administration skills, experience with JAMF server for Mac OS software distribution and policy enforcement. Use and support of 3D-printers, laser cutters, CNC automated milling equipment, associated safety procedures, Microsoft Office (PC/Mac versions), Adobe Creative Suite Programs, Chrome / Safari / Firefox Internet Browsers & associated plugins (Flash, Java, etc)
