Position Summary
Portland Community College Sylvania Campus' Arts, Performance and Design (APD) Division is seeking a full-time instructor in Basic Design Art. This division is comprised of nine (9) departments/areas of study; Architecture, Art, Communication, Journalism, Dance, Graphic Design, Interior Design, Music and Theater Arts. These departments often work in collaboration to help enhance our students college experience. Basic design foundations studio experience centers on creative problem solving, developing perceptual awareness and understanding. Students will work on critical skills and personal artistic vision. Students use a broad range of materials, techniques and projects to explore design concepts with reference to historical and contemporary perspectives. This position requires knowledge of basic design topics, including but not limited to:Color Theory, Black and white/2D Design, 3D Design Foundations, and time based art.

Candidate Profile
These qualifications, skills and abilities are critical for success in this position.
Throughout the screening process, you will be evaluated based on the demonstration of these qualifications.
-Ability to teach at least two of the following basic design courses: 2D Foundations, 3D Foundations, Color Foundations, 4D Foundation
-Ability to teach at least one of the following sculpture courses: Plaster/Clay, Carving, Mixed Media, Figure Sculpture, Metals
-Experience and abilities to oversee or manage a sculpture facility
-Understanding of a diverse learning environment
-Demonstrates the ability to work collegially, creatively and collaboratively at the department/division/campus/college levels
Minimum Qualifications
To be considered, your application must demonstrate these minimum qualifications. (Experience is calculated based on the start and end dates you provide multiplied by the number of hours per week worked).
Master of Fine Arts in Visual or Studio Art is required.

Starting Salary Expectations
Initial Salary Placement up to Step 3 ($56,274) will be based on related experience, per PCC's collective bargaining agreement.

*Please note: Temporary Full-Time Faculty are not eligible for Personal Leave Days, Life Insurance, Long-term Disability, or AD&D Insurance.
Paid Leave:
- 1 day of sick leave for every 18 days worked (~10 days/year)
- 21 hours of additional personal leave per year
- 4 paid holidays (which occur during the term you are teaching)
