Position Summary: The UNC Division of Nephrology and Hypertension is seeking a physician with both clinical and research experience. The candidate will be closely involved in the care of patients with chronic kidney disease, including those with end-stage renal disease. He/She will be expected to see patients in outpatient dialysis clinics that provide hemodialysis and peritoneal dialysis for a minimum of 4 months per year. In addition, he/she would be expected to provide inpatient nephrology consultation and attend on the inpatient nephrology service on occasion. If successful in these endeavors, we anticipate promotion to leadership positions such as medical directorship of an outpatient dialysis clinic. The faculty candidate will provide expert outpatient consultation in chronic kidney disease, including glomerular disease and obstetric nephrology, as part of his/her weekly outpatient responsibilities. Finally, the physician will be granted dedicated time to engage in scholarly activities including research endeavors and quality improvement initiatives.

Education Requirements: Candidates should have a medical degree from an accredited US medical school and must be Board Certified in Nephrology.

Qualification and Experience: Candidates should have a medical degree from an accredited US medical school and must be Board Certified in Nephrology. Prior experience in both outpatient and inpatient nephrology is essential. Prior experience/subspecialty training is preferred in glomerula disease and obstetric nephrology. Research accomplishment, degrees obtained, (such as PhD, PMH or MSCR) future research plans and funding awards will also be considered.
