The Department of Architecture in the College of Architecture and Planning (CAP) at the University of Colorado Denver (CU Denver) will establish and maintain a pool of applicants from which future appointments to temporary, non-tenure-track Lecturer positions will be made. Appointments will be part-time (less than 50% FTE) and will be made semester-by-semester. This temporary Lecturer pool is anticipated to remain continuously active through April 1, 2017-at that point, all applications will be cleared from the pool. Lecturers may be selected from this pool to teach six-credit-hour design studios in the Department of Architecture's undergraduate and/or graduate programs. If an applicant has an area of expertise other than or in addition to design studio and would like to be considered to teach a three-credit-hour course, the applicant should highlight this interest in a cover letter. Compensation for Lecturers is a set dollar amount, determined at the beginning of each academic year, based on the number of credit hours per course.
Skill Requirements: Lecturers that are hired to teach design studios are expected to have expertise and experience in architectural design. This includes knowledge of different design paradigms, design skills and approaches to project design. A successful applicant must be able to develop, and manage student projects through constructive criticism, the use of technologies ranging from technical drafting to advanced digital design tools and visualization software. If applying to a non-studio course the applicant must possess and be able to demonstrate expertise in the area of focus.
Minimum Qualifications: A bachelor's degree in Architecture or a related field is required.
Desired Qualifications: Preference will be given to applicants with a professional degree in architecture or a terminal degree in a related field. Additional preference will be given to applicants with prior teaching experience, and/or professional registration, and/or a record of professional practice in architecture.
