The Department of Emergency Medicine at the University of Colorado is actively seeking fellowship-trained physicians to join the Point-of-Care Ultrasound faculty. These individuals will assist with the implementation of all aspects of point of care ultrasound within the Department of Emergency Medicine.

The point of care ultrasound faculty provide training for 50 faculty and 68 EM 1-4 residents shared with Denver Health. The primary focus of the position will be the education of faculty, fellow(s), residents, medical students and rotating residents. The faculty member will share responsibility for quality assurance, image archiving, development of clinical protocols involving ultrasound, and collaboration with other departments.

We have four complete ultrasound systems in the department, wireless connectivity, middleware for quality assurance, credentialing and billing.

Clinical Responsibilities:

Clinical shifts are worked at the University of Colorado Hospital. There is a 24-hour Stroke team and 24-hour MI team with cardiac catheterization lab access for both sites. Dedicated night shift attendings minimize overnight shift allotment.

Non-Clinical Responsibilities:

The faculty member's primary focus will be the education of faculty, fellow(s), residents, and medical students. The faculty member will share responsibility for quality assurance, image archiving, development of clinical protocols involving ultrasound, and collaboration with other departments.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:
Candidates must have an MD or DO, be board-eligible or board-certified by the American Board of Emergency Medicine, and be Emergency Medicine residency trained. Applicants must have completed a fellowship training or have comparable experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

Track record of clinical productivity, preferably with clinical shifts which have included direct supervision Emergency Medicine residents at a level I or Level II Trauma Center or tertiary care hospital.
