Position Summary: The Department of Neurology and The Center for Animal MRI at The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill is seeking a highly motivated Research Associate to assist in preclinical neuroscience experiments. Duties will include maintaining a rat breeding colony, administering substances to the animals, conducting surgical procedures and postoperative care, hardware fabrication, assisting with functional magnetic resonance (fMRI) experiments, fMRI data analysis, and executing related duties that are necessary to the functioning of the Centers and research projects.

Education Requirements: Relevant post-Baccalaureate degree required; for candidates demonstrating comparable independent research productivity, will accept a relevant undergraduate degree and 3 or more years of relevant experience in substitution. May require terminal degree and licensure. Major in neuroscience, biology, psychology, biochemistry or related field preferred.

Qualification and Experience: The candidate should demonstrate proficient skills in preclinical neuroscience experiments. Experience working with rodents is highly preferred. We are seeking candidates that are willing to commit to at least two (2) years and work flexible hours (preferred).
