Position Summary: The librarian will provide principal investigators with publications search, retrieval, and archival support for research and training grant applications and progress reports. Inclusion of published researchers' works for grants will vary periodically and the position must interface with UNC's Health Sciences Library (HSL), the Office of Sponsored Research, grant making organizations such as NIH, and researcher-authors themselves. The librarian will help improve compliance with the Public Access Policy and other publication policies of grant making organizations. The librarian will provide the senior leadership staff with reports annually, quarterly or as needed on publications, grants and membership that require specific methodology in data curation, collection and aggregation. These reports will be used for both internal guidance and external review. Occasionally data collection and reporting methodologies will be provided by other agencies in a proscribed manner. However, the position must be able to independently develop robust methodologies for other reports that do not have a given process so that senior leadership can evaluate progress toward goals over time. Such reports will support the collection of various data points from public and private databases such as NIH Reporter, IT works, various access databases housed internally and RAMESES. In addition the librarian will be asked to coordinate business intelligence with the HSL including the use of bibliometric analysis. They will serve as the Cancer Center membership point of contact for new members and prepare information packets for the membership committee to evaluate new potential members. They will assist the pre-award team leaders in gathering information on current and former trainees as required by external agencies for our training grants. They will administer the various list servs for the Cancer Center.

Education Requirements: ALA-accredited Master's degree in library or information science or Bachelor's Degree with 5 years of experience.
Qualification and Experience: Required: Expertise in retrieving and archiving data. Thorough understanding of the data elements within bibliographic citations. Demonstrated proficiency with citation management software such as EndNote. Preferred: Ability to simultaneously be flexible and deadline driven and Experience retrieving publications for cancer researchers on oncology topics.
