Description:

A full-time Senior Professional Research Assistant (PRA) position is available in the Division of Endocrinology, Metabolism & Diabetes at the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus. In this position, the Senior PRA will conduct basic and translational research on thyroid cancer under the supervision of Dr. Rebecca Schweppe. Research will focus on the role of signaling pathways and the development of new therapeutic strategies for thyroid cancer. These studies will require expertise in cell culture, immunohistochemistry, molecular biology, including Western blotting, growth assays, gene expression analysis, and experience with mice.

The Senior PRA will also play a role in training of personnel and managing the daily operation of the laboratory. This will include assisting with ordering supplies, preparing stock reagents, and maintaining equipment. The Senior PRA will also be responsible for updating and maintaining laboratory databases.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

The candidate should have a Masters degree in Cell Biology, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, or a closely related field. For candidates with a B.A. or B.S. degree, equivalent experience is required. Experience with mice and cell culture is required and expertise in molecular biology is preferred. The candidate must be a highly motivated and resourceful researcher and be able to work independently to move the project forward.

Desired qualifications:

Experience in cellular signaling pathways.
